Disney’s animated sequel “Zootopia 2” regained the top spot at the North American box office over the weekend ending Sunday, earning an estimated $26.3 million in its third weekend in theaters and surpassing $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales, according to Comscore and studio estimates.

Universal’s horror sequel “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” placed second domestically with $19.5 million in its second weekend, while Universal’s musical fantasy “Wicked: For Good” ranked third with $8.5 million in its fourth weekend.

Indian action film “Dhurandhar” finished fourth with $3.45 million, and Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” took fifth with $2.38 million.

Anime feature “Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution” placed sixth with $2.102 million, followed by Sony Pictures Classics’ comedic drama “Ella McKay” at $2.1 million in its opening weekend. The re-release of “Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas” ranked eighth with $1.85 million, the drama “Eternity” ninth with $1.774 million, and historical drama “Hamnet” tenth with $1.5 million.

Globally, “Zootopia 2” reached approximately $1.14 billion in ticket sales, including $502.4 million in China, where it became the highest-grossing Hollywood release in several years.

The only other 2025 Hollywood release to cross $1 billion is Disney’s live-action “Lilo & Stitch,” with $1.04 billion. China’s “Ne Zha 2” remains the highest-grossing film of 2025 worldwide, earning nearly $2 billion domestically.
