MANILA, Philippines — Former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co has refused to accept an order from the Office of the Ombudsman directing him to submit a counter-affidavit in connection with allegations of irregularities in flood control projects.
According to the Ombudsman, the order was sent to Co’s last known address but was not received. The office said Co’s refusal could place him in default, allowing the investigation to continue using existing documents and evidence.
The Independent Commission on Infrastructure filed the complaints, which involve suspected anomalies in the implementation of flood control projects.
The Ombudsman required Co to respond within a specific legal timeframe to address the allegations.
