SAN ANTONIO, Texas— A local woman was tearfully reunited with her two cats, Rambo and Mo, after losing them during a powerful storm that recently swept through the Houston area.

The cats escaped when a large tree branch shattered a window in her home during the flood.

The severe weather caused widespread flooding and property damage, leaving many residents displaced and searching for lost belongings — and beloved pets. Determined to find Rambo and Mo, the woman posted flyers, visited shelters, and turned to social media for help.

Neighbors and animal rescue volunteers joined in the search, checking yards and porches across the community. Eventually, a nearby resident found the frightened but unharmed cats hiding under a porch and contacted the woman.

The emotional reunion served as a bright spot in the midst of the region’s recovery efforts. “I’m so thankful to everyone who helped,” she said. “This community gave me hope when I needed it most.”

Local animal shelters remain active, helping care for pets displaced by the storm. Officials continue to urge residents to include pets in emergency planning and ensure animals have ID tags or microchips to aid in reunification efforts.

As cleanup continues across Houston, the safe return of Rambo and Mo is a reminder of the compassion and resilience that binds communities during crises.
