On August 17, a woman was knocked unconscious during a physical altercation in downtown Austin, prompting a search for the alleged assailant by local police. The incident took place around 1 a.m. near the intersection of 7th Street and Red River and was reportedly captured on surveillance and cellphone footage.

The Austin Police Department is searching for a suspect described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, with short black hair and dimples. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black short-sleeved button-up shirt, black pants, black shoes, and a pink wristband. The police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect and have announced a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Authorities have emphasized the critical role of community involvement in solving the case and ensuring public safety. Despite treating the victim at the scene, the police have not released her identity. The investigation remains active, with police continuing to gather evidence and review available footage related to the assault.

The altercation reportedly began as a verbal dispute before escalating to physical violence, raising concerns among residents about nighttime safety in downtown Austin. The Austin Police Department has reiterated the importance of community vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to help maintain peace and security in the city.

For those with information, contact with authorities can be made through the Crime Stoppers hotline, where tips can be submitted anonymously.
