Filipinos will have another opportunity to highlight their vocal skills through a special competition tied to the upcoming movie musical Wicked: For Good, the sequel to last year’s Wicked. The films are adaptations of the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman.
The sequel continues the story of the witches of Oz, with Cynthia Erivo returning as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. To celebrate the film, Universal Pictures Philippines is hosting a contest centered on the iconic duet “For Good,” the song that inspired the sequel’s title.
Interested participants must perform the “For Good” duet and upload their videos on TikTok between September 16 and October 5. For those who want a themed setting, audition booths will be available from September 19 to October 5 at SM Mall of Asia, SM Lanang, SM City Iloilo, and SM Seaside Cebu.
The contest follows last year’s successful promotion, where Filipino singers were selected to star in a local rendition of Defying Gravity, which premiered alongside the first Wicked film.
Winners of this year’s contest will be announced on October 13 by Erivo, Grande, and director Jon M. Chu. They will star in the official Philippine music video of “For Good,” enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, and personally meet the cast.
Wicked: For Good is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on November 19.
