HOUSTON, Texas – Von Ryan Pangwi officially took on his new role as Consul at the Philippine Consulate General in Houston in January 2025.
Before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Pangwi served as an Assistant Instructor at Saint Louis University in Baguio City.
He passed the Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE) in 2012 and entered the DFA in 2013. His first assignment was with the Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA).
In 2016, Pangwi was posted to the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where he served as Third Secretary and Vice Consul for six years.
After returning to the DFA-OCA in 2022, he was appointed Acting Director of the Passport Division before his recent assignment to Houston.
Pangwi holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Baguio and a Master of Arts in Social Studies from Benguet State University.
He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in History at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
He is married to Ivory C. Catama, and they have two children: Hypatia Ivonne and Hadrian Aelfric.
