WASHINGTON D.C. — Authorities have apprehended a 23-year-old man in the United States, following his alleged threats against former President Donald Trump.

The arrest comes in the wake of several videos uploaded to TikTok, reportedly showing the man with a rifle and expressing intentions of serious harm towards the former President.

Douglas Thrams, identified as the suspect, is accused of circulating multiple videos on the social media platform TikTok between the inauguration of President Trump and the subsequent Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint filed on Thursday, these videos contained explicit threats of anti-government violence.

The complaint highlights Thrams’ statement that Trump “needs to be assassinated,” among other concerning content.

The videos, since removed from the platform, have captured the attention of federal authorities. The investigation into these videos was swift, given the potential threat to national security and public safety.

The Department of Justice confirmed the arrest, indicating they were taking the threats very seriously.

Officials stated that such posts, regardless of their seriousness or intent, demand immediate attention due to their potential impact.

Thrams’ TikTok account reportedly contained not only videos of threats against the former President but also included messages supporting anti-government actions.

Law enforcement officials described the content as troubling, noting that it suggested a willingness to engage in violent activities against governmental figures.

Thrams was located and detained without incident, pending further investigation and formal charges.
