US confirms 4th military casualty tied to Iran strikes

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military said Monday that a fourth American service member has died from injuries sustained during initial strikes involving Iran.

United States Central Command said in a statement posted on X that “Four U.S. service members have been killed in action. The fourth service member, who was seriously wounded during Iran’s initial attacks, eventually succumbed to their injuries.”

CENTCOM added that major combat operations remain ongoing.

The military said the names of the fallen service members are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

Previously, U.S. Central Command reported that three service members had been killed and five others seriously injured in the operations.
