The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has launched a new campaign targeting college students ahead of spring break to promote road safety and reduce accidents during the busy travel period.

Spring break sees an increase in travel, particularly to vacation spots, raising the risk of road incidents. TxDOT’s campaign focuses on preventing impaired driving, speeding, and distracted driving.

It encourages safe practices, such as using designated drivers, wearing seat belts, and avoiding phone use while driving.

The campaign will use various media channels, including social media, to engage with college students. TxDOT will also host events on campuses to directly interact with students.

Testimonials from individuals affected by unsafe driving will be featured to raise awareness of the real-life consequences of reckless driving.

TxDOT is collaborating with law enforcement agencies and universities to spread the message widely.

The campaign will include heightened law enforcement presence to deter violations such as speeding and impaired driving, with the aim of preventing accidents that can lead to serious injuries or fatalities.

The initiative also aims to educate students on the legal consequences of unsafe driving, including fines, license suspension, and potential imprisonment.

Additionally, it highlights the financial and emotional toll of accidents, including medical costs and the impact on families.

The campaign will run through the spring break season, with efforts to evaluate and adjust strategies for maximum impact.
