Two-alarm fire reported at Houston Methodist building in Texas Medical Center

HOUSTON — The Houston Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at a Houston Methodist Hospital building near Fannin Street and University Boulevard shortly after 5 p.m. Friday, with smoke visible from the top of the building, according to the department.

The fire occurred in the Texas Medical Center, near the intersection of Fannin Street and University Boulevard.

Houston Methodist said no injuries occurred and that the fire did not pose an ongoing risk to patients, visitors or employees, according to a statement released through local news outlets.

The Houston Fire Department and Houston Methodist had not immediately provided additional details about the fire, including what caused it or the extent of any damage.

Authorities had not reported any other injuries or hazards connected to the incident.
