President Donald Trump has announced a full pardon for reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted in 2022 on charges including bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

Todd had been serving a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years.

The couple began their sentences in January 2023 after being found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks of more than $30 million and evading taxes by concealing income from their show, Chrisley Knows Best.

Julie was also convicted of obstruction of justice, and both were ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution.

President Trump decided a phone call with the couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who had been advocating for her parents’ release. Trump stated that he believed the couple had been treated unfairly and praised their character.

The pardon is expected to take effect immediately, releasing the Chrisleys from federal custody once legal procedures are finalized.

Following their release, the Chrisleys plan to return to television and have expressed interest in advocating for criminal justice reform. They also intend to address ongoing legal matters, including issues with the IRS.
