WASHINGTON — The United States military carried out a targeted strike on a vessel suspected of drug trafficking, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday.

Describing the operation as a “lethal kinetic strike,” Trump said the action is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling operations that threaten U.S. national security. Specific details regarding the strike’s location and the identities of those killed were not disclosed.

The administration stated the operation involved precise targeting to incapacitate the vessel while minimizing collateral damage. Officials emphasized that the strike aligns with broader U.S. policies aimed at curbing drug trafficking domestically and internationally.

The military action comes amid heightened pressure on the federal government to address drug-related issues, including the ongoing opioid crisis. Lawmakers and the public have called for increased measures to halt the flow of illegal narcotics into the country.

The U.S. continues to collaborate with international partners in joint operations targeting drug cartels and criminal networks. The strike represents a continuation of the current administration’s strategy to prioritize national security and disrupt transnational criminal activities.

Officials indicated that further operations could follow as part of the administration’s long-term commitment to combating drug trafficking.
