WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said he wished British Prime Minister Keir Starmer well after posting on social media that Starmer would resign, as British media reported that the Labour Party leader could step down within days.

“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of The United Kingdom,” Trump wrote on Truth Social without providing evidence or citing sources for the claim. “I wish him well.”

Trump made the remarks as several British media outlets reported that Starmer, who has faced mounting political pressure, plans to resign in the coming days.

Trump has criticized Starmer in recent weeks over Britain’s stance on the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran. In his Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump renewed his criticism of the British leader’s policies on immigration and energy.

“He failed badly on two very important subjects — IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!),” Trump wrote.
