MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and personnel from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) went to the Senate on Monday to serve an alleged arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, according to statements from the senator.

Dela Rosa said he resisted the attempted arrest and “wrestled” with those who approached him at the Senate, resulting in injuries to his finger.

The senator later attended the Senate plenary session, marking his first appearance in the chamber since Nov. 11.

Dela Rosa and Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go were previously identified by the ICC as alleged co-perpetrators in the investigation into killings linked to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the alleged warrant or the reported incident at the Senate.

This is a developing story.
