Thailand’s Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on July 4, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Monday. This marks Sangiampongsa’s first visit to the Philippines since he assumed office on May 3.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Sangiampongsa will meet with Philippine Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo to discuss various bilateral areas of cooperation. The agenda includes the proposed convening of the 6th Meeting of the Philippines-Thailand Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation. The two officials will also address regional and international issues of mutual concern, such as the situations in the South China Sea, Myanmar, and Gaza.
The DFA highlighted that the visit aligns with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand. Both nations are key members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and share a robust bilateral relationship.
“The Philippines and Thailand enjoy a strong and dynamic relationship, reflected in their active collaboration within ASEAN and other international forums,” the DFA added.
