Texas Department of Public Safety officials removed a state trooper from duty during the Texas A&M University–University of South Carolina football game in College Station, Texas, after a sideline encounter with South Carolina players.
Video from the stands showed the trooper in close proximity to several players on the sideline. Supervisors were notified, and the trooper was removed from active sideline duty for the remainder of the game.
The department confirmed it opened an internal review of the trooper’s conduct. The review will examine video footage, reports, and witness statements from the event. The trooper’s name has not been released.
Texas A&M University police and athletics officials coordinated with state troopers as part of standard game-day security. University of South Carolina staff reviewed available footage and reported no injuries or disruption to team operations.
Officials said the review could result in training recommendations, policy guidance, or disciplinary action. The department did not provide a timeline for the review’s completion and stated it would address inquiries as the process continues.
