Texas claims 40% of top 25 best places to live in the U.S.

TEXAS — U.S. News & World Report ranked 10 Texas cities among the top 25 best places to live in the United States in its annual 2026 report, with Flower Mound leading the state at No. 3 nationally.

The report evaluated 250 cities based on value, quality of life, desirability and job market.

Carmel claimed the top overall spot nationwide, while Texas cities filled 40% of the top 25 rankings.

Among the highest-ranked Texas cities were Leander at No. 8, Frisco at No. 9 and Sugar Land at No. 10.

Other Texas cities in the top 25 included League City, Pearland, McKinney, Allen, Cedar Park and Mansfield.

The rankings also placed several major Texas cities farther down the list, including Fort Worth at No. 146 and Austin at No. 199.

Other ranked Texas cities included Plano, Round Rock, New Braunfels, El Paso and Corpus Christi.
