AUSTIN — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) evacuated the Texas Capitol on Saturday following a credible threat against state lawmakers, officials confirmed.
Authorities instructed all individuals inside the Capitol to leave the premises as a precaution. Law enforcement agencies increased security around the building and conducted a thorough search of the Capitol grounds.
The nature of the threat has not been disclosed, and DPS launched an ongoing investigation to assess its source and credibility. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other state officials were informed of the situation.
