Texas A&M University student Aiden Ross won season 28 of the singing competition show “The Voice” on Tuesday during the live finale in Los Angeles, aired on NBC.
Producers announced Ross as the winner after a combined vote of viewer ballots and input from the show’s celebrity coaches, who served as mentors and judges throughout the season.
Audience members cast votes for finalists through phone, online, and app-based platforms during the final performance round. The voting window closed before the winner announcement.
Ross competed against other finalists who advanced through blind auditions, battle rounds, knockouts, and live shows. Coaches guided contestants in song selection, performance style, and stage presentation.
Each coach built a team during blind auditions by turning their chair to signal interest in a contestant’s voice. Contestants chose a coach if more than one turned, and remained on that team unless saved or stolen by another coach.
Ross advanced through elimination rounds as coaches and viewers voted on performances across musical genres. Semifinals and finals aired live to allow real-time viewer voting.
The finale featured solo performances from finalists and duets or group numbers with celebrity coaches and guest artists.
