FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Christian University (TCU) extended football coach Sonny Dykes’ contract on Friday, keeping him with the Horned Frogs through the foreseeable future.
TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Buddie said Dykes has demonstrated the leadership needed to compete for national and Big 12 championships, citing his performance on the field, community standing, and program-building decisions.
Dykes expressed gratitude to TCU administration and said he and his staff are committed to pursuing national championships, College Football Playoff appearances, and Big 12 titles in Fort Worth. The terms of the extension were not disclosed.
Since taking over in 2022, Dykes has led TCU to 36 wins, the most of any Big 12 program during that span. The Horned Frogs have achieved three seasons with nine or more wins, including a 13-win 2022 campaign that culminated in their first College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance. TCU’s victory over Michigan in the 2022 CFP remains the only playoff win by a Big 12 team.
