MANILA, Philippines — Taeyong is embracing a bolder and more experimental sound with “WYLD,” his first full-length solo album that showcases what he described as a “more evolved side” of himself.

Released earlier this month, “WYLD” features the NCT leader exploring a wide range of genres, including hip-hop, jazz, rock, electronic, hyperpop, and future bass.

The 10-track album opens with its title song “WYLD” and also includes tracks such as Skiii, Feeling Myself, Mermaid, and 404 Euphoria, which was first performed during his “TY TRACK – REMASTERED” concert in January. Other songs in the album are I’m a Dancing Cactus, Storm, Hypnotic, Hot, and Run.

According to SM Entertainment, the title track was inspired by the movement and instincts of wild animals, capturing a raw and untamed energy through its explosive sound and emotionally charged chorus.

Taeyong shared that the album was developed over two years, a process he said pushed him to reflect on his earlier work and grow as an artist.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to sharing this album. Over the past two years, I spent a lot of time looking back on my previous work, learning, and pushing myself to grow,” he said.

“I worked on this album with the hope of showing a more evolved side of myself, and I hope it becomes a project that awakens your musical instincts,” he added.

Taeyong debuted with NCT in 2016 as the group’s leader, rapper, vocalist, dancer, and center. He launched his solo career in 2023 and released a second mini-album the following year before temporarily stepping away for military service.

The K-pop star was discharged from the military in December 2025.
