SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame will open a special exhibition Friday celebrating the career of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, making him the first active NBA player to receive the honor.
Titled “Stephen Curry: Beyond the Arc,” the exhibition highlights Curry’s achievements on and off the court, showcasing his legacy as a four-time NBA champion, two-time Most Valuable Player, entrepreneur, philanthropist and family man.
The Hall of Fame developed the exhibit in partnership with Curry’s business team.
“The exhibit is designed to explore his multifaceted legacy as a basketball icon, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and family man,” the Hall of Fame said in a statement.
Curry, 38, said the exhibition reflects the people and experiences that shaped his career.
“When I think about my journey, I think about the people who believed in me, the work that happened when nobody was watching and the moments that shaped me on and off the court,” Curry said.
“To have that story told while I’m still playing is something I don’t take lightly. My hope is that fans walk through this experience and feel the joy, the purpose and the gratitude that basketball has given me, and maybe see a little bit of their own journey in it too.”
The exhibit marks Curry’s first appearance at the Hall of Fame but is unlikely to be his last. Widely regarded as a future first-ballot inductee, Curry will become eligible for enshrinement after he retires from professional basketball.
The Hall of Fame has not announced when the exhibition will close.
