Authorities in Seoul are ramping up security and crowd-control measures as hundreds of thousands of fans gather for BTS’ comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21.

Officials expect up to 260,000 attendees, prompting stadium-style crowd management. Entry will be tightly controlled through designated gates, and access may be halted if crowd density becomes too high. Metal detectors, bag checks, and ID inspections will also be in place.

Police have raised the anti-terror alert level for 72 hours, deployed drone-detection systems, and restricted certain activities like civilian firearm shipments. Key areas, including ventilation shafts and nearby structures, have been secured to prevent accidents.

Emergency response has also been expanded, with thousands of police officers, firefighters, and safety personnel on standby, along with medical stations and a mobile intensive care unit.

Nearby cultural landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung and Namdaemun are under heightened protection to prevent damage from the large crowd.

While many residents are excited about the global spotlight on the city, others have raised concerns about congestion, safety, and disruptions to daily life.
