Cebu City, Philippines — In an inspiring display of skill and longevity, 86-year-old Orly Enoveso triumphed in the Sugbuanon Bowlers United (SUGBU) shootout tournament held on Sunday, April 27, at the SM Seaside City Cebu Bowling Center. Known affectionately as “Tatay Orly” within the SUGBU community, Enoveso is celebrated for his enduring passion and commitment to the sport of bowling, having been an active participant in Cebu’s local bowling scene for several decades.

Enoveso’s victory not only underscores his personal achievements but also highlights the vibrant presence and competitive spirit of senior bowlers in the region. His win is part of a growing trend of success among senior athletes, as evidenced by fellow senior bowler, 85-year-old Bebie Mauro, who recently claimed a shootout title in the same tournament series.

The tournament at SM Seaside City Cebu Bowling Center served as a testament to the skill and dedication of senior competitors, drawing attention to their significant contributions to local sports. Enoveso’s performance captivated both participants and spectators, demonstrating that age is no barrier to excellence in sports.

The SUGBU tournament is a notable event in Cebu’s sports calendar, attracting bowlers of various ages and skill levels. It provides an excellent platform for fostering community spirit and showcasing the talents of seasoned athletes like Enoveso, whose experience and passion for the game continue to inspire younger generations.

Orly Enoveso’s achievement reinforces the prominence of senior bowlers in Cebu and emphasizes the importance of inclusive sporting events that celebrate athletes of all ages. The win is a reminder of the enduring impact of sports in promoting health, vitality, and community connection among seniors, encouraging ongoing participation and engagement in competitive activities.

As Cebu’s bowling community continues to thrive, events like the SUGBU tournament play a crucial role in nurturing talent and fostering an environment where athletes, regardless of age, can pursue their passion and excel in their chosen sports.
