SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Pride Center San Antonio announced plans for a vigil on June 8 to honor Jonathan Joss, the voice actor known for his role as John Redcorn on King of the Hill, following his tragic death on June 1.

Joss, 58, was fatally shot outside his Southside San Antonio home. Authorities have charged his neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, with murder in connection with the incident.

The vigil, organized by the local LGBTQ+ nonprofit, comes as discussions continue regarding the circumstances of Joss’s death.

The Pride Center described the shooting as an “act of violent unchecked homophobia” and called for justice and accountability. However, the San Antonio Police Department has reported no evidence linking the murder to Joss’s sexual orientation.

Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, expressed his belief on social media that the murder was a hate crime, fueling further public discourse on the case. The Pride Center emphasized that the vigil would provide a space for the community to mourn and advocate for justice.

In addition to his role in King of the Hill, Joss was also recognized for his appearances on Parks and Recreation and was a prominent figure in both the arts and LGBTQ+ advocacy.
