SAN ANTONIO — A new mountain biking course has opened at McAllister Park on the North Side, offering riders of all skill levels a chance to hit the trails.

Dubbed The Grove, the course spans roughly the length of two football fields and winds through a wooded section of the park. It features a mix of beginner-friendly sections and more challenging terrain for advanced cyclists.

City officials and community partners marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. In a social media post, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department called The Grove “a one-of-a-kind bike course” designed to let riders progress at their own pace.

The trail was designed by Action Sports Design and built for year-round riding. It is part of about $2 million in bond-funded improvements at McAllister Park under San Antonio’s voter-approved bond program, which includes upgrades across the city’s parks to enhance trails, biking amenities, and outdoor recreation.

Local volunteer groups, including Friends of McAllister Park and regional mountain biking organizations, also contributed to the project.
