SAN ANTONIO — The Barrio Comprehensive Family Health Care Center has disclosed that up to 19,885 patients may have had their personal and medical information exposed due to a cybersecurity incident, the clinic confirmed in a notification to affected individuals.
The breach, which the clinic discovered on September 16, 2025, involved suspicious activity linked to an employee’s email account. After securing its network and conducting an investigation with third-party specialists, the clinic determined that unauthorized access to certain emails may have exposed sensitive data.
According to the clinic’s message to patients, the potentially compromised information includes birth dates, patient account numbers, provider names and locations, and clinical information. Barrio emphasized that there is no evidence that any of the information was misused.
The review of impacted emails concluded on February 19, 2026, after months of a detailed assessment. Patients were offered guidance on accessing free credit-monitoring services as a precaution.
