SAN ANTONIO — Spurs playoff excitement has spread across the city, with fans displaying team colors in storefronts, murals, and public spaces as the team continues its postseason run.

Local artist Jesse Zapata has been among those contributing to the visual display, painting Spurs-themed artwork across businesses and buildings throughout San Antonio.

Zapata, who has worked as a traveling window painter for decades, said he has completed dozens of commissions in recent weeks, many featuring silver-and-black Spurs designs for local storefronts responding to increased demand during the playoff season.

He said he paints by hand and works on a wide range of public-facing art, including restaurant windows and community spaces, often creating custom designs requested by business owners.

Zapata also said he donates artwork to hospitals and nonprofit organizations, describing his work as focused on bringing enjoyment to the community.

The artist said he has painted for more than three decades and continues to take on projects across the city despite recently recovering from a heart attack.

As Spurs playoff energy continues, businesses across San Antonio are continuing to commission themed artwork reflecting the team’s postseason run.
