MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor Richard Gutierrez said he is not planning to start a family with his girlfriend, Barbie Imperial, as he focuses on his new television series Blood vs Duty.
In a media interview after the press conference for the show, Gutierrez said he is prioritizing work and managing his responsibilities to his existing family. “Family? Naku, malayo pa! Mina-manage ko pa ‘yung isa kong family (mga anak), mahirap at naka-focus ako ngayon sa work,” he said.
Blood vs Duty is set to air in the primetime slot after TV Patrol, a timeslot previously held by Coco Martin for years. Gutierrez acknowledged the challenge of leading a series in the timeslot. “Since I moved to ABS-CBN, wala pang nakakapasok do’n sa timeslot as male lead, di ba? So, ngayon pa lang na may male lead na papasok aside of course kay Coco… So, it’s a big challenge for us and we are accepting the challenge and we are excited for this opportunity at may pressure,” he said.
The series premieres on April 6 and stars Richard Gutierrez, Bela Padilla, Gerald Anderson, Baron Geisler, and Barbie Imperial. Directed by FM Reyes, Bjoy Balagtas, and Rico Navarro, with Erwin Tagle as action director, the show is written by Dindo Perez, Cenon Palomares, Jann Kayla Mendoza, and Shania Vonzel. The drama centers on lives divided by circumstance and compelled into conflict by fate.
