Richard Gomez, a former actor now serving as a politician, is returning to the film industry after a seven-year hiatus with the lead role in the upcoming neo-western film “Salvageland.”

Rein Entertainment announced the commencement of the film’s production through an Instagram post, featuring behind-the-scenes photos.

One of the images depicts Gomez in a police uniform wielding a rifle, accompanied by co-actor Elijah Canlas, who is also in uniform. Another image features director Lino Cayetano in discussion with Gomez and Canlas, seemingly instructing them on a scene.

Gomez, who is currently a congressman for Leyte’s fourth district, last starred in the family romantic-comedy “Three Words to Forever.”
