MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla on Monday suggested a possible connection between individuals involved in drug war killings and those responsible for the disappearances tied to the e-sabong (online cockfighting) industry.

Remulla made the statement during a public address in Manila, where he discussed ongoing investigations into both sets of cases. Authorities are examining whether there are overlapping networks or actors in the two criminal activities.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), in coordination with law enforcement agencies, is pursuing leads and collecting evidence as part of its efforts to identify and prosecute those behind the crimes. Investigators have not yet released specific findings linking the two cases.

The e-sabong industry came under national scrutiny after multiple individuals connected to the platform were reported missing. Separately, the government has continued to probe extrajudicial killings allegedly committed during the country’s anti-drug campaign.

Remulla emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving both cases and restoring public trust in law enforcement. “We must pursue every angle to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” he said.

Officials urged members of the public with information to come forward to assist with the investigation. As of now, authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the status or direction of the probe.

The DOJ continues to prioritize the resolution of the drug war and e-sabong cases as part of a broader campaign against illegal activities.
