LONDON — Jannik Sinner won his first Wimbledon title on Sunday, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in a high-stakes final on Centre Court at the All England Club.

The Italian secured the championship after a four-set match, marking a major milestone in his professional tennis career.

Sinner, 22, delivered a dominant performance, using consistent baseline power and tactical precision to overcome Alcaraz, who had beaten him in the French Open final last month.

“This is a special moment for me,” Sinner said in his post-match interview. “I’ve worked hard for this, and I want to keep getting stronger.”

The match, which drew global attention due to the growing rivalry between the two young stars, showcased high-level shot-making and physical endurance.

Sinner broke Alcaraz’s serve multiple times and maintained composure during key points to close out the match in just under three hours.

The victory is expected to boost Sinner’s ATP ranking and further solidify his position among the world’s top players. It also marks the first Wimbledon title for an Italian man in the Open Era.

Alcaraz, 21, entered the final as the defending Wimbledon champion and had won four of the previous seven matches between the two. Despite flashes of brilliance, he was unable to counter Sinner’s consistency and power.

The Wimbledon final concluded a dramatic fortnight at the tournament, with Sinner’s win seen as a potential turning point in men’s tennis.

Sinner will next compete in the U.S. hard court swing, aiming to build on his Grand Slam breakthrough. His Wimbledon title adds to his previous major semifinal appearances and signals his emergence as a serious contender in future tournaments.
