MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas will play the sixth and final window of the 2027 Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers at home in February after the Fiba Executive Committee selected the Philippines as host.
The final window will serve as the last stop in the Asian qualifiers before the World Cup in Doha, Qatar.
The Philippines will face Jordan on Feb. 25 before playing Syria on Feb. 28.
Fiba also selected Malaysia as the neutral venue for the fifth window in November. Gilas will face Syria and Iran during that window.
The Philippines strengthened its bid for a World Cup berth after sweeping Jordan and Iran during the fourth window, which the country hosted on Aug. 28 and Aug. 30.
The two victories moved the Philippines to a 4-4 record in Group E, one game behind Iran and Jordan, which both hold 5-3 records.
The top three teams in the group will earn automatic World Cup berths. The best fourth-place team from Groups E and F will also qualify.
The Philippines will need strong results in the remaining windows to secure a place in the 2027 World Cup.
