HOUSTON, Texas — Philippine Kalayaan Houston (PKH) held its general assembly on Nov. 22, at the Philippine Consulate General, bringing together leaders and representatives from various Filipino community organizations across the Greater Houston area.

Under the guidance of outgoing Chair Clemente Logronio, Jr., PKH ratified its recently amended bylaws, aimed at strengthening and professionalizing the organization’s governance structure while enhancing its capacity to plan and execute community activities.

A key component of the amendments included the election of six Board members to serve as the PKH Executive Committee for a two-year term. The general assembly carried out the election as prescribed in the updated bylaws.

The newly-elected Board members are:

  • Claudette Revote (Texas Unified Society of Thomasians)
  • Jonathan Gecomo (Philippine Nurses Association of Metro Houston)
  • Nileon Dimalaluan, Jr. (Knights of Rizal)
  • Salindeg Gallegos (Royal Oaks Lions Club)
  • Ana Daquigan (Ilocano Club of Metro Houston)

Consul General Gunther Sales congratulated the newly elected Board members, affirming the Consulate’s continued support for PKH. He highlighted the organization’s pivotal role in leading the annual celebration of Philippine Independence Day among Houston’s Filipino communities. Sales also praised PKH for successfully organizing past celebrations and expressed optimism for an equally outstanding Independence Day observance in 2026.
