Representatives from the Philippine Consulate General visited the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center (DBNRRC) in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to observe the facility’s ongoing research efforts aimed at improving rice production.

During the visit, the Consulate learned about the center’s work in genetics, physiology, pathology, agronomy, and cereal chemistry. These areas of research contribute to the development of rice varieties with improved yield, grain quality, and resistance to diseases, pests, and environmental stress.

The DBNRRC, operated under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service, is the largest rice research center in the United States. Its work supports multiple stakeholders, including scientists, farmers, millers, processors, and consumers.

Arkansas, home to over one million acres of rice farmland, accounts for approximately 50 percent of total rice production in the United States.
