MANILA, Philippines– The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) encouraged Filipinos to take advantage of its benefit packages for common eye conditions as part of its observance of World Sight Day in Manila.
The initiative supports the government’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign, which aims to promote universal access to quality healthcare, including eye health.
PhilHealth highlighted the availability of benefit packages for eye conditions such as cataracts and other visual impairments. The agency urged members to avail of these services to prevent and manage vision-related problems early.
The corporation said the packages are designed to ease the financial burden of treatment and include consultations, diagnostic services, and surgical procedures. These benefits are available through accredited health facilities across the country.
PhilHealth President and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. said the initiative underscores the corporation’s commitment to preventive healthcare and equitable access to essential medical services. He added that partnerships with local hospitals and clinics ensure that members can easily access care wherever they are in the Philippines.
The campaign coincides with World Sight Day, an annual global event focused on raising awareness about blindness and vision impairment. PhilHealth’s participation, officials said, reinforces the importance of eye health as part of overall well-being.
PhilHealth continues to review and enhance its benefit packages to align with international standards and the evolving healthcare needs of Filipinos. Its eye health programs are part of broader efforts to achieve universal healthcare coverage and promote preventive care under the Bagong Pilipinas framework.
Through these efforts, PhilHealth aims to improve the quality of life for its members and strengthen public awareness of the importance of regular eye check-ups and early treatment of vision problems.
