A pedestrian was fatally struck while attempting to cross NW Loop 410, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). The incident occurred on the evening of May 3, 2025, near the 4400 block of NW Loop 410.

SAPD reported that the individual was crossing the highway from south to north when they were hit by multiple vehicles. The identity of the victim had not been released at the time of the report. Authorities closed multiple lanes on NW Loop 410 for several hours as they conducted their investigation.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident occurred. The San Antonio Fire Department and EMS personnel provided assistance, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police stated that the drivers involved in the incident stopped and cooperated with the investigation. There were no immediate charges filed against the motorists, and police are continuing to gather information.

The SAPD advised pedestrians to avoid highways, which are high-speed zones and not intended for foot traffic. The department emphasized the importance of pedestrian safety and urged individuals to use designated crosswalks and pedestrian bridges wherever available.

The accident is under investigation by the SAPD’s Traffic Investigation Division. Officers are looking into the circumstances leading up to the accident, including whether speed, impaired driving, or other factors played a role.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding pedestrian safety in San Antonio. City officials and law enforcement agencies have been working towards reducing pedestrian accidents through various safety campaigns and infrastructure improvements.

Pedestrian accidents have remained a significant concern in San Antonio, with city officials emphasizing the need for improved road safety measures. Efforts include the implementation of speed reduction campaigns, the installation of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and increased public awareness campaigns designed to educate both drivers and pedestrians.

The San Antonio Police Department continues to urge pedestrians to practice vigilance and caution when navigating busy roads. The department reminds residents that crossing highways and high-speed roads outside of designated areas poses significant dangers.

Family members of the victim have been notified, and SAPD is assisting them during this difficult time. The department encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation.

As the SAPD investigation unfolds, the community is reminded of the critical need for safety measures and public awareness regarding pedestrian safety on highways and other high-traffic areas. Officials continue to work towards solutions aimed at decreasing pedestrian fatalities and creating a safer environment for all road users.
