Former NBA player Paul Pierce was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence after a multi-vehicle crash on a Los Angeles highway.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on the northbound lanes when officers responded to the crash. Officers found Pierce asleep behind the wheel of a stopped Range Rover at the scene.
Authorities observed signs of alcohol impairment, leading to Pierce’s arrest on a misdemeanor DUI charge. The Los Angeles city attorney’s office will review the case and determine whether to file formal charges.
Pierce, a 10-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Fame inductee, played the majority of his career with the Boston Celtics. He has recently worked in sports media, co-hosting a talk show that ended in July 2025.
