MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday warned the public about individuals impersonating First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on messaging platforms to solicit money and send directives to government officials, according to Palace press officer Claire Castro.

Castro said some individuals used the First Lady’s profile photo on WhatsApp to scam contacts.

In a post on her official social media accounts, Araneta-Marcos said she received messages from acquaintances asking her to verify conversations that appeared to come from her.

She said the messages did not originate from her and warned that individuals were impersonating her identity to solicit money.

Araneta-Marcos said the recipients of the fraudulent messages included two Cabinet secretaries, a congresswoman, a senator, and a personal acquaintance.

Castro identified several phone numbers used by the impersonators, including +63 956 226 8585, +63 964 956 0617, and +63 968 765 9359.

Araneta-Marcos urged recipients of such messages not to respond or send money.

She advised the public to report incidents to the National Bureau of Investigation Cybercrime Division through its official contact channels.
