MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is reviewing the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) amid concerns over the constitutionality of some budget provisions.

Malacañang emphasizes the need to ensure the budget complies with legal standards while addressing public needs.

Various sectors raised concerns about the constitutionality of certain items in the budget, prompting the review.

Cabinet members are working with the president to identify potential issues in the budget. They aim to align the GAA with the current administration’s priorities and policies.

The proposed budget will fund government projects and services in 2025, focusing on key sectors such as economic growth, public health, infrastructure, and education. The administration aims to ensure that budget allocations support national goals and use resources effectively.

Malacañang has assured the public that any unconstitutional provisions discovered during the review will be addressed. This effort maintains the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in government spending.

Meanwhile, government agencies continue to operate under the current budget framework, and the review will not affect the delivery of services or existing programs.

The administration remains focused on crafting a budget that is fair, equitable, and responsive to the population’s needs, with an emphasis on constitutional compliance and responsible fiscal management.
