MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Robin Padilla chief of staff Rudolf Philip Jurado confirmed Tuesday that he has resigned from his post, saying he submitted his resignation before the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte began.
In a statement, Jurado said he tendered his resignation on June 22. Sen. Robin Padilla accepted the resignation, which takes effect at the close of office hours on July 31.
“My resignation was duly accepted by Senator Padilla, and my separation from the Office takes effect at the close of office hours on 31 July 2026,” Jurado said.
Jurado said he has been on an approved leave of absence since filing his resignation.
His confirmation came after reports circulated online claiming he had stepped down, with some reports alleging he resigned after being bypassed by other members of Padilla’s staff.
Jurado did not disclose the reason for his resignation.
On Monday, Padilla said Jurado “has been sick for a long time.” The senator described his former chief of staff as his “best friend” and said Jurado has been living with uncontrolled high blood pressure.
