Novak Djokovic announced on Tuesday that he will skip the Paris Masters slated to start next week, explaining that he intends to rest and recover.

His most recent match took place in the semi-final round of the Shanghai Masters earlier in October, where he lost to Valentin Vacherot, who held a world ranking of 204 at the time.

Djokovic stated that he hopes to return for the 2024 edition of the tournament.

The Paris Masters, one of the ATP Tour’s Masters 1000 events, is set in Paris, France. Organizers and fans had expected Djokovic to compete, given his history of success at the tournament. His absence opens the field for other top-ranked players and rising contenders.

The tennis community continues to monitor Djokovic’s condition while anticipating his return to competition.
