DALLAS — NFL player Rashee Rice left the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday morning after serving a 30-day sentence for a probation violation tied to a March 2024 high-speed, multi-vehicle crash on Central Expressway, court records showed on Wednesday.
Court documents showed that authorities booked Rice on a probation violation after he tested positive for THC. The court ordered him to serve 30 days in county jail as part of his sentence linked to felony charges stemming from the crash. Records also showed he underwent knee surgery prior to his booking and received permission to visit Parkland Hospital in Dallas for rehabilitation.
Rice pleaded guilty in July 2025 to two third-degree felony charges connected to the collision and received five years’ probation and a 30-day jail sentence. He also agreed to pay medical expenses for the victims.
Authorities said Rice drove at speeds nearing 120 mph before the crash and left the scene before police arrived. He later surrendered to an arrest warrant and took responsibility for the incident in a statement.
The NFL suspended Rice for six games last season for violating its personal conduct policy. He played 11 games, finishing with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the team expected Rice to report to training camp at the end of July and said the team would work to integrate him back into practice following his return.
