Adolescence, a new drama series released by Netflix, is drawing attention for its portrayal of cyberbullying and its potential psychological impact on teenagers.

The series follows the fictional case of a 13-year-old boy accused of killing a classmate following online harassment.

The story centers on Jamie, a middle school student who becomes involved in a criminal investigation after the death of his classmate, Katie.

According to the show’s narrative, Katie posted a series of harmful messages targeting Jamie on Instagram. The incident leads to a confrontation that results in Katie’s death.

Set in the United Kingdom, the series explores issues surrounding adolescent mental health, the effects of social media, and school dynamics.

Jamie’s character is depicted as struggling with the emotional consequences of sustained cyberbullying, which forms the basis of the plot.

Mental health professionals and educators have noted the series’ relevance, citing an increase in digital harassment cases among young people. The storyline, while fictional, mirrors real-life discussions around online behavior and youth well-being.

Netflix has not released viewership figures or announced whether the show will be renewed. However, discussions surrounding Adolescence have gained traction online, particularly among youth advocacy circles.
