SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs and guard De’Aaron Fox have agreed to a four-year, $228 million contract extension, the team announced Monday.
Fox, 27, joins the Spurs after previously playing for the Sacramento Kings. The extension secures his role as a key piece in the franchise’s long-term plans, particularly alongside All-Star center Victor Wembanyama.
A person with knowledge of the deal confirmed the financial terms to The Associated Press. The agreement marks one of the largest contracts in team history.
Fox expressed excitement about joining the Spurs and the opportunity to compete for championships, citing his admiration for the franchise’s past title runs.
The Spurs are aiming to build a competitive core around Wembanyama and Fox as they continue to rebuild and pursue playoff contention in the Western Conference.
