The Los Angeles Lakers are seeing encouraging progress from the partnership between guard Austin Reaves and center Deandre Ayton during the preseason.

Reaves and Ayton displayed strong coordination in recent games, particularly during a matchup against the Golden State Warriors, where Reaves scored 21 points and the duo executed several effective pick-and-roll plays.

Ayton, who joined the Lakers after his buyout from the Portland Trail Blazers, has quickly adapted to the team’s system. His addition aims to strengthen the Lakers’ interior offense and provide more versatility in their playmaking.

Coaching staff noted that Ayton’s presence complements Reaves’ style, allowing the team to refine its pick-and-roll strategy ahead of the regular season. Early performances suggest that their on-court chemistry could become a central component of the Lakers’ offensive approach.

The Lakers continue to assess their lineup during the preseason, with Reaves and Ayton’s developing connection emerging as a promising factor in the team’s preparation for the upcoming NBA season.
