MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) shut down 8,901 illegal gambling sites as part of a coordinated operation to combat cybercrime, CICC Deputy Executive Director Renato “Aboy” Paraiso announced on Thursday.
Law enforcement authorities carried out the operation targeting unauthorized online gambling platforms. The CICC worked with both local and international agencies to identify and dismantle the sites.
Paraiso said the shutdown is part of the initiative to address illegal online activities and enforce cybersecurity laws. He emphasized the role of inter-agency cooperation in the success of the operation.
The government continues to prioritize cybersecurity and the enforcement of online gambling regulations. Authorities urged the public to report suspicious online activities to support ongoing enforcement efforts.
The CICC stated it will maintain its efforts to promote a secure digital environment for all users.
