LONDON – Boxing legend Mike Tyson is facing a lawsuit in the United Kingdom after allegedly breaching a promotional agreement with Medier.
The former heavyweight champion is accused of breaking a deal with a gambling company to participate in a fight against Jake Paul, a social media influencer who has transitioned into the prizefighting arena.
The lawsuit, filed in London’s High Court, seeks nearly 1.5 million euros ($1.59 million) in damages from Tyson.
Medier, a Cyprus-based media company, is responsible for promoting Rabona, an online casino and betting platform.
According to court documents, Medier claims that Tyson agreed to a promotional contract in January.
The agreement intended for Tyson to endorse Rabona’s services. However, Tyson allegedly terminated the contract in March, the same day his fight with Jake Paul was announced.
Medier’s lawsuit claims Tyson violated the terms when it decided to pursue the match against Paul.
