Miss World 2013 titleholder Megan Young has revealed that she and her husband, actor Mikael Daez, almost ended their relationship during its early years after she admitted making him the center of her life.
In a recent appearance on a podcast hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, Young shared that she became so deeply in love that she neglected her own identity and personal growth.
“I feel like I got lost in love to the point that I didn’t take care of myself. I loved Mikael so much that I made him my world, but he hated that,” she said, recalling how Daez reacted negatively to the dynamic.
She said Daez encouraged her to maintain her independence, reminding her that she should continue pursuing her own goals and identity outside of the relationship.
Young recounted that Daez told her he wanted to see her as her “own person,” explaining that he did not want to become the center of her life.
The actress said the issue led to a serious conversation between them around their third year together, nearly resulting in a breakup.
Despite the tension, Young said the experience became a turning point that helped her rediscover her individuality and understand the importance of maintaining a sense of self in a relationship.
Young and Daez began dating in 2011 and went public with their relationship six years later. They were married in January 2020 and later welcomed their first child, a son named León, in 2025.
