MANILA, Philippines — Actress Matet de Leon said there is a “misunderstanding” between her and her siblings and their brother Ian de Leon over issues involving the estate and legacy of their late mother, Nora Aunor.

Matet made the statement during an appearance on the talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Thursday, May 7. She said the issue was not a “fight” but a misunderstanding.

The dispute followed Ian’s earlier statement that he is the “sole legal heir” to Aunor’s estate and legacy. Matet said she did not dispute his claim and acknowledged that it was already widely understood.

Matet also said she and some of her siblings were unaware that Ian had established a one-person corporation to manage the Nora Aunor Foundation and Nora Aunor Enterprise. She said she and her sister Lotlot de Leon only learned about the entities through social media.

She added that the establishment of the corporation conflicted with a separate foundation Lotlot had organized shortly after Aunor’s death. According to Matet, the siblings hurried to establish the foundation because several groups and individuals were attempting to create organizations connected to their mother’s name. She said the plan was for all five siblings to be involved.

Matet said the last time she spoke with Ian was last year and described the conversation as “not okay.” She also said she did not know how the conflict could be resolved.

The actress confirmed that Aunor left several properties but said she did not know whether the late actress had a will and was no longer trying to find out.

Last month, Ian affirmed his role as Aunor’s sole legal heir but said his position did not exclude his adoptive siblings.

Earlier, Lotlot’s legal counsel said she had not been consulted regarding the administration of Aunor’s estate and had not communicated with Ian for some time.
